R&D in Aquaculture

From research to application.

The aquaculture sector has also started research, which will remain essential to meet and satisfy new societal and/or technological demands.

As a co-product of our research, we have been able to build up a network of competent partners in research institutions and companies that is not limited only to Germany.

Our main objective is to make the production of indoor shrimp comprehensively sustainable, i.e. as resource efficient and energy efficient as possible with a stable, reliable production and survival rates which are in line with the animal welfare. These are essential factors for the future sustainability of indoor aquaculture.

One aspect is to develop integrated solutions for the utilization of the nutrients nitrogen and phosphorus. We have investigated this question in a recently completed R&D project on the integration of micro algae (s. R&D sub project „tex-AS“).
