In 2007, in cooperation with Polyplan and Raumlabor, a first floating pool with biological water treatment was planned and subsequently operated. This pool was so well received by the people of Gothenburg that the city decided to install a more extensive facility here. The new planning will then take place in 2021 to 2022. The new facility was then constructed from 7/2022 to 6/2023.
As a world first, the salt water of the Baltic Sea lying under the freshwater lens was tapped here. The proposed basin is open at the bottom and projects deep into the saltwater lens. During operation, the fresh water is then evacuated from the basins and the heavy deep water with a salinity of 10..30 g/l rises.
With the rising Baltic Sea water, a window opens to the bather into the “ocean” of clear, clean water with the typical saltwater biocenosis.
