Polyplan-Kreikenbaum has been accompanying the planning of the Dongfeng Lake restoration since 2018. The water body consists of 3 interconnected lakes and is surrounded by densely populated areas. The discharge of wastewater treatment plant effluent and the connection of combined sewer overflows result in massive nutrient inputs to the lake, which is currently in a hypertrophic state. As part of the baseline assessment, current measures are being developed that will lead to sustainable improvements in water quality. A reduction of wastewater inflows is not possible, so large nutrient loads can be expected in the future as well. Currently planned measures include the creation of integrated filter and sedimentation areas, targeted planting, and litter retention.
