The project “Damm Aquakultur GmbH & Co KG” is a Biofloc plant for shrimp production and has been in operation since 2018. It has been planned together with a Belgian developer and realized in Hesse at the Niedenstein site. The still lesser-used, resource-saving, “0-Water Exchange” or “Biofloc” technology is used in this pilot project. Bioflocs are suspended flocs consisting of organic material and a species-rich microcosm that are nutritionally and immunologically beneficial to shrimp.
