Facility planning and support

RAS or Biofloc Circulation systems

We recommend an initial consultation, during which you will be comprehensively informed and your specific requirements will already be the subject of discussion. Appointments can be made by e-mail or by calling our office at 0421-17876-10.

Subsequently, we will be pleased to offer you a feasibility study, including a basic evaluation and based on this, a selection of the production process as well as an economic calculation. These aspects secure the decision about the investment well.

Whether it is a RAS or Biofloc recirculation plant, our concept is for smaller units with an energy supply from surplus heat which is directly connected to regional markets. We consider the economically reasonable minimum production volume to be 10t per year.

We have consciously specialized in plants for the production of the so-called King Prawns, as they represent a high quality product and do not require any processing stages, in contrast to fish production. In addition, shrimp production systems have lower biomass and feed loads and are therefore at lower risk in terms of oxygen supply and can still be operated safely even at extremely low water exchange rates.

With the first generation of recirculating systems, we targeted an already low water renewal rate of less than   1%/day. As so-called “clear water plants”, this type of plant is now state of the art, but requires a high technical effort.

The so-called “0-Water Exchange” or “Biofloc” technology or BFT, which is not yet widely used in Germany, is more resource-efficient. Since 2016, we have continued to pursue this technology and in 2018, we implemented it in a pilot project in Hesse.  Reference project “Damm Aquakultur GmbH & Co KG”, (www.die-Landgarnele.de).

Bioflocs are suspended flocs consisting of organic material and a species-rich microcosm of bacteria and microorganisms that are nutritionally and immune beneficial to shrimp. In addition, Bioflocs do much of the nitrification in the holding tank, where the specialized bacteria convert the toxic nitrogen into the non-toxic nitrate.

We offer planning from a single source, including the licensing aspects (veterinary authority, health authority) and we are at your side for support even after commissioning – supported by a database developed by us. Research and development, funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).
